I ordered two books on the Saxophone yesterday, they are to arrive on the 12th of January. One of them, “The Art of Saxophone Playing” by Larry Teal is recommended by a number of people on various forums. In this book is a variety of tips to help out. The one I am looking for is helping out with my embouchure. I still have issues with it, and will continue to just work at it. I don’t think I’ll be able to record the song again today, as I just can’t get it to come out the way I want. I will post whatever I can do tomorrow just so you can see how good/bad it really is. I’m glad to have found the various forums on the web about saxophones, as reading over the information has helped me understand a few issues with my playing and I incorporate these techniques into my practice sessions. I’ll give a review on what I think of the books after I have a chance to look over them, I’m sure they are both great. My other book I’m waiting for is “Technique of the Saxophone: Scale Studies” by Joseph Viola. When I took piano I worked a lot with scales, so I figured it would be a good thing to do with my saxophone as well. Help me move my fingers around, and remember where all the keys are suppose to be. So be sure to come back tomorrow, Sea Chanty will be online no matter how bad it sounds… however I am hoping it comes out good. I’ll play it again after a few months to see how much better I have gotten.
