About
My name is Ivan Windon and I am in the process of learning to play the Alto Saxophone. I actually purchased my saxophone on a rent to own basis back when I lived in Burbank at Pederson’s Band and Orchestra. The saxophone that I rented to start off with was a Lablanc Vito Alto Saxophone. I already had a musical foundation as when I was younger I took piano lessons for around 10 years. So I could read music, and knew about musical theory, all I needed to figure out was how to breathe properly and form a proper embouchure to make “pleasant” tones. At the time I took a few lessons which got me started and gave me the ability to get sounds out of my new horn. Shortly after that however I ended up relocating to Houston, Texas and my learning process was put on hold.
Finally I am able to spend a little more time and have started to play once again. I started up once again in November and found a saxophone teacher by the name of Alisha Pattillo. So now this is where this blog picks up. This will be helpful for me especially as I’ll get to see my progress over the next year and see how far I have come. I’m really looking forward to it. I hope everyone enjoys this journey as well.
